All young wizards attending Hogwarts have several magical tools at their disposal. One of the most important tools is the wand. Trees were thought of as sacred, and the source wood of the wand was important when determining its effectiveness. This belief dates back to the Celtic Druids, who lived centuries before Christ. In the parlance of the Harry Potter series, the wand was also matched to the person wielding it, according to that person’s size and/or the trees in the vicinity of their birth. The wand could also be an indicator of the general energy level or mood of the wizard.
The core of Harry Potter’s wand, like that of his Hogwarts classmates, is constructed of magical items derived from such creatures as unicorns, dragons and phoenix. Interestingly enough, the wand must be used by a wizard, to be effective. Anyone else who stumbles across it would only be able to use it as a stick or branch. The purpose of the wand is to concentrate the energy of the wizard in a particular direction or on a particular object.
Anyone who wishes to obtain a replica of the wand used by Harry Potter or any of his notable classmates can find several sources online. For example, The Noble Collection specializes in replicas of movie props and jewelry items inspired by these movies. The items are not limited to Harry’s possessions. In fact, several of the notable characters have inspired the creation of replicas of their wands, along with beautiful pieces of jewelry.
