This seven-book series, originally conceived by author J. K. Rowling in the early 1990’s has completely revolutionized the children’s book industry, if not the entire book industry as a whole. Although Ms. Rowling initially wrote her first novel in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on a humble manual typewriter, it has been said that today Ms. Rowling is actually wealthier than that other famous female across the Atlantic, better known as Queen Elizabeth II. You can’t help but pity the first twelve publishers that rejected her manuscript!
Once you’re hooked on “Harry,” it’s only a matter of time before you must emulate the young wizard in every possible way. To accommodate budding wizards everywhere, there are numerous “Harry Potter” stores online, selling everything from replicas of his wire rim glasses, to his wand and scarf. True hardcore fans of the books and the successful movie series are relentlessly pestering their parents for a “Harry Potter” tour to England, instead of the usual summer family vacation. These tours include actual rides on the train used in filming the movies and special screenings of the upcoming latest film installment based upon the books.
